External dimension for BPF fine, but what about Work Status ?

Hi Experts,

I have a basic conceptual question about WorkStatus and BPF in BPC 10.1 Embedded.

The 'External Dimension' feature in BPF template was introduced because existing InfoObject could not be modified to add Owner,Reviewer attributes. In this feature, we copy the original dimension to a new one and add Owner,Reviewer attributes to the copied InfoObject. We then use this copied infoobject as the Driving Dimension in BPF by choosing it from 'External' section because this external infoobject is not a part of the Infoprovider(used in the Model). We then map it to the original dimension in the BPF template.

This feature is well understood.

My question is about the Work Status though. The user will still need to modify the existing original dimension and add Owner,Team attributes to be used in the Work Status Configuration. The Work Status Configuration window does not have the provision to choose the External Dimension.

If the copied InfoObject is outside the Infoprovider, this cannot be selected in Work Status Configuration window as it only allows the Infoobjects present inside the InfoProvider. This means the External dimension has to be within the InfoProvider. If it is inside the InfoProvider, it cannot be found under 'External' section in BPF template.

What does the user do then?We know that in most cases, the owner dimension of Workstatus is same as Driving dimension in BPF.

PS: It is in SAP's training material to use External Dimension for BPFs.

Regards,

Shashi
